Went there to pickup dim sum to go during covid-19. It's better to order the refrigerated dim sum and steam it at home, it tastes much better. The price is decent and dim sum seems to be smaller. I can feel the morals inside the restaurant is low. Hope they can ride out the storm and stay in business.
Ordered on a weekday to go. Contactless payment was not available. Hargao uses jumbo size shrimp. The skin of the dimsum is not particularly thin but the texture and chewiness is pretty on spot. Impressive size but taste wise I find it lacking in “shrimpness/ freshness”. HK style hargao tend to use medium size shrimp. I prefer it more bite size with more shrimp freshness that’s what makes it sweet and flavorful.Shumai was really good — recommendCharsiu rice roll wrap & Dried scallop Glutinous lotus rice wrap was delicious — recommendOverall this place is pretty legit in terms of HK style dim sum. Most dim sum places tend to over season. Highly recommend this place for dim sum in the Bay Area.
Very nice menu n service. Great Chinese food.
This is the one in Daly City. Busy as always but service still up to par. Food taste better than most Chinese restaurants in the area , and lots of great selections. Prices are above average. Would definitely recommended .This place is looking tired thus 1 star is deducted.
One the best places to eat Chinese food. Is always pretty pack si be ready to wait. But food is worth it over there.
Wait times are quite long so it's better to go mid to late morning. Food is good and comes out pretty fast, but the service was abhorrent. Senior members of staff completely rude and swore in Chinese in the faces of our non Chinese party because one of them asked a clarification question about the menu. Don't expect to be given any respect as a paying customer!
Really good dim sum place. Don’t get the pig shaped buns though, they’re not very good.
Worth the wait for wonderful dim sum. You order from a menu rather than off carts. The result is dishes which are fresher and warmer. The tofu skin with mushrooms was our favorite until dessert came. The black sesame paste dumplings were coated in sesame seeds and then fried for an extra dose of sesame flavor. They were an amazing conclusion to a wonderful meal.
This place is a zoo on a Sunday. They said the wait was 45 minutes so we stuck around. It took almost 2.5 hours to get seated. Once we got in, the service was cold and sparse. Based on the food alone, this would have been five stars.
The restaurant has excellent, and authentic, dim sum. About 9 of us went in the afternoon for lunch and we're seated quickly, although the place was packed. The food was great: check out the calamari and braised tripe. When the restaurant is full, it can be a bit loud. Also, you order your food at once; they do not have staff with carts.
Maybe I’m old school, but I remember not too long ago when every dish is unilateral sub-$4 a piece. Now? An order of fried sesame balls plus shoo-mai costs $13??!? My goodness, they’re not joking when they say the Bay Area is expensive! Food is alright.
Pretty decent dim sum selection. Come before they open because the line forms fast.
One of the larger and well established Cantonese style Chinese Restaurant in the San Francisco / Bay Area. Quality:4/5, Service: 4/5, Cleanliness 3/5. Parking: good luck! As with most Chinese restaurants, the place need to get a face lift / renovation.
Pretty good spot. Not better than Hong Kong Lounge, but still very solid.
The food is delicious. The dim sum is really just to notch. But the lines are killer. Be there 10 minutes before it opens or expect to wait in line for an hour.
Great place for Dim Sum at lunch time and Cantonese food for dinner.
Great dim sum, but wait times can be long. Try the coffee ribs!
Koi Palace is the place to have dim sum in Daly City and there are people literally lined up for the weekend openings at 10AM where the wait for a table can extend for hours. On this Thursday there was still a line but enough seating for the early throngs. Overall the quality of the dim sum is very good as was the service today. The food is quite delicious too but pricier than some other places that specializes in these small pieces of appetizers from the heart that can combine to make a very satisfying meal with a pot of gold Japanese green tea.
Best Chinese outside of mainland China I have had.
Ordered a pepper crab, dumplings and crispy noodles with beef and brown beans sauce. To go order. Service was prompt. Ready in 20 mins. Manager was friendly. Pepper crab was just amazing. The gravy was just right spice with good amount of crab. They slightly crack the crab so all the gravy goes into the meat when cooking. One of the best dishes. Noodles were also awesome with great flavor. Some beef pieces were a bit chewy. Overall, good dish.Dumpings were good, though I have had better. Overall good place for crab. Supposedly good for BBQ too, but we didn’t order it this time. Will definitely go back!
Delicious! It's better to go with some friends or family because one plate is large.
Large variety of dim sum. Some are quite good
Good food and service, you pay what you get.Ordered 3 lbs garoupa with 2 cooking styles for around $130. Noodles, vegetables, spare ribs, whole chicken, and 4 clams, all in good quality.7 persons for total $380 with gratuity included. It's just a little bit expensive compare with other restaurants, if you live nearby Daly City then this is a restaurant you want to try out.
Love this place. Great food perfect Dim Sum
Wonderful place to gather with friends and family for communal meal. Friends and I went for Dim Sum on a Sunday, was treated with friendly staff and un-rushed service. Many options to choose from, via A La Cart menu and table side service. Be cognizant not to over order using both resources. Tea can be served with your meal, as I would recommend. There is also a full service bar located in this establishment.
Best dim sum in the Bay Area. The dishes are delicious and consistent. Service is efficient and friendly. Koi Palace is a great spot to invite out-of-town friends and family, no one will be disappointed.
Great dim sum and awesome dining experience!
Every bite there was amazing even though a bit pricey, best in SF, i waited for an hour to get a table but definitely worth every penny and second. Free parking but could be difficult to get a spot, especially during weekend or holiday. To speed up the ordering, check out the menu beforehand as the number of choices could be overwhelming.
Koi is just outstanding. Service , will need to ask whenever you need something. Ink squid fried rice was yummy. Durian custard puff pastry. Chicken feet very tender.
Great variety and food. Largely why I come there. For the last few times I have found the service confused and outrageously slow, losing pieces of the order, taking over fifteen minutes to handle credit cards and generally being inattentive of the table. Last two times I watched entire families get served, go and the next one get served while still waiting on my way table's order. It is really frustrating.
Top Cantonese and seafood restaurant in San Francisco Bay Area. It is always crowded with a long waiting queue everyday. It has a rich variety of Dim Sum dishes, some of them are unique (abalone puff, lobster or crab congee, and many others). The price is on the very high side, but you get what you pay for. Highly recommended.
Great food, it's an experience as well haha taro buns are excellent too
I love this place. I’ve loved its dim sum since I was a kid when it first opened. It’s been over 22 years. They’ve lost the “posh” ambience for the better and are more down-to-earth. They’ve made new additions to their menu, but everything including the classic dim sum menu remains consistently delicious.
The party I was with thought the food was exceptional. The service was great, we had more than one server, they were all attentive. Food was good, not overpowering of flavor. Really enjoyed the duck dish.
The best dim sum in the Bay Area, food wise. They have some really creative dishes, like soft shell crab in noodle roll. However, there is always a long wait. We usually go at 9:30 to try to get a table. I think the food is worth it though. Their basic dishes, like shrimp dumplings and shumai are really well done.
Everybody should try their XO sauce! It’s just amazing and nothing like the cheap one you usually have in a hot pot place. So much seafood tastes are perfectly extracted in to the oil. It’s a bit expensive but worth every penny.
What an experience, this place has wonderful food. The architecture is truly beautiful and traditional. Lots of items on the menu are classic to the culture that you would not find elsewhere. The service is top notch and the cleanliness is impeccable. Lots of parking and a great place for a good family dinner. I highly recommend getting a reservation.
Order the dinner buffet and you surely won't regret it. Came here for a team dinner and was blown away by the sheer number of items in the buffet and the portion size. Highly recommend the crab, mapo tofu, shrimp corn balls and the pork soupy dumplings
Good food quality per order of a single dish or bowl can satisfy 3 adults. Restaurant requires redecoration. Ventilation can be redone to stop accumulating stale cooking scent. Prices reasonable.
Everybody said this is the best place for dim sum but is it worth to wait more than 3 hours with the worst service you have ever had?Make sure you do the double-check with the front desk, and you'd better stand in front of them. They will blame you if you miss the calling, and give you a new number ticket, let you wait in line for another hour. "Sometimes people just talk to each other and do not pay attention to our calling." as they said. After they added someone else in front of you in the queue, they will tell you "we have nothing to do with this" or "you can cancel your ticket and choose another place to eat." How is that? Our guest chooses this place to have lunch. From 9:57 am to 13:29 pm, we wait in line for over 3 hours. I have to say, the food is not worth to wait so long. Please don't waste your precious time at this place.
Food was good even though not a fan of dim sum. (More a fan of dumplings) Location could use more clarity on vegetarian options and a bit of updating on the ambience as well. Service and staff were great and accomedating.
Dim sum quality better than average, but expensive. Best quality goes to har gow and siu mai.
Dim sum was good, but a bit pricey as everyone else notes. It was surprisingly busy for a Wednesday afternoon. Salt water tanks are impressive. Great spot on the way to the airport for us. Service not so great. Food came quickly.
Food is ok, service is ok, its not bad but not good enough for 5 stars
Finest place to have some food when in a hurry. Their customer service is quick, prices are reasonable, great character. I highly recommend this spot.
Had a awesome experience in here with my daughter. The food arrives fast and the customer service is just good. Prices are fair.
Dumplings moist like a spring rain, hot like an Alabama night, and fresh like you never seen, son! This joint really is a palace fit for a koi!
Amazing food! Super fresh seafood! Highly recommend!
The best dim sum in the bay area. Fair warning plan ahead there are usually long waits as it is very popular. But food is so succulent and fresh. I recommend you try the short ribs and mango tapioca pudding. Chinese broccoli is fantastic and they have so many selections that me and friend who come here at least 1 a month have not been able to try them all.
Tried over 15 dim sum places, this one has the best flavor of all.
